Interim manager Darren Fletcher has urged Manchester United's squad to show they deserve to be at the club and to ensure the remainder of the season does not slip away following Sunday's FA Cup elimination against Brighton.
United were beaten 2-1 in the third round at Old Trafford, as goals from Brajan Gruda and Danny Welbeck sealed victory for the visitors. Benjamin Šeško pulled one back late on, while teenage substitute Shea Lacey was sent off after receiving two yellow cards. The setback comes just 11 days into 2026 and follows United's premature exit from the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
