Dog fouling in West Waterford has reached an unacceptable level, according to Sinn Féin Councillor Donnchadh Mulcahy. He said the situation is continuing to deteriorate, with the problem now widespread across towns, villages, housing estates, footpaths, green spaces and areas surrounding schools.
Councillor Mulcahy warned that this poses a serious public health concern, particularly for children, people with weakened immune systems and those with visual impairments. He added that dog waste left on public walkways and green areas makes them unsafe and unpleasant to use, causing distress for families and older residents.
He also cautioned that the issue is damaging West Waterford's reputation as a place to live and visit, giving a negative impression to tourists and visitors.
