Public Urged to Stay Alert as Waterford Gardaí Issue Scam Warning
The Gardaí in Waterford have alerted the public to a scam falsely claiming to be connected to the National Car Testing Service (NCT).
In a statement shared online, Gardaí said there has recently been increased online activity involving fake websites impersonating the official NCT service. These cloned sites appear in search engine results and charge motorists between €60 and €600, despite no NCT booking being made.
Motorists are being reminded that the only legitimate NCT booking website is www.ncts.ie. Gardaí are advising the public to take precautions by manually typing the website address, exercising caution with sponsored search results, and avoiding third parties who claim they can secure NCT appointments.
Anyone who believes they may have fallen victim to the scam is urged to contact their bank immediately for guidance on fraudulent transactions.
